The NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. You must pass the RSO course and demonstrate that you possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
This course consists of RSO’s roles and responsibilities, range standard operating procedures, range inspection and range rules, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, and Range Safety Briefings which include procedures to follow in the case of an emergency.
This is an 8–9-hour course and conducted in one full day in a classroom setting. All students will receive a Student Study Guide to keep for future reference.
Please note that class is contingent upon the minimum enrollment requirements of four students. If the minimum class enrollment isn’t met, students will be rescheduled for the following course scheduled.
